2009 Teacup Junior and High School Nordic Racing Results

Torin Tucker, former Teacup junior skier, captured 15th in the J1 classic at the U.S. Junior Nationals!! Torin is spending this school year in Sun Valley. If you watched Torin at Teacup last year, you probably aren't surprised by his impressive performance at Nationals.

Teacup Nordic juniors competed well in Pacific Northwest Junior qualifiers at Spokane, the Methow Valley, and Mt Bachelor in January & February.

Paige Miller-Hughes, the "old lady" of Teacup's Youth group, took 7th of 23 J1 girls at Bachelor. Kiera Degener-Obrien and Taylor Schlichting were 8th & 9th of 26 J2 girls at Bachelor. Taylor made it to the final heat in sprints at the Methow.

Misha Miller-Hughes tied for 3rd in the J2 Boys Classic at the Methow. And Ben Pratt, the "baby" of the group, took a third in Spokane's J3 Boys CL and two second places in the Methow. In one Methow race, he missed first place by one second!

Thanks and kudos go to Robert Schlichting for coaching the Teacup juniors. And kudos to Jordan Pratt, one of Robert's juniors, for stepping up to help as a blind skier guide when the Schools for the Blind visited Teacup.

St Mary's Academy, Cleveland, and Franklin skiers (all TC members) competed in high school league racing. Ellie Daniels (SMA) and Austin Schatz (CLV) won the OISRA Northern League individual championships.

St Mary's took third at the OISRA state meet. Evan Wilcox was 8th in the FS and 10th in the combined CL/FS results (of 76 girls). Ellie Daniels was 12th in the combined CL/FS.

Eight of our Junior/High School racers are graduating seniors and will be spreading around the country. Our seniors include old-timers Paige, Evan, Ellie, Abigail Struxness, & Shelby Spalding, and relative newcomers Anna Socolofsky, Caitlin Sweeney, & Emma Kovak. We'll miss them and hope to see them at Teacup occasionally.
